Growing together.This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting critical rules application in production. The role requires solid engineering expertise, understanding of US Healthcare Insurance (nice to have), and hands on experience operating modern, cloud enabled systems at scale. The engineer will partner with architects, business operations, and interfacing application teams to deliver high quality, resilient, and secure software while ensuring the availability of systems in production.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary ResponsibilitiesFull Stack Development:Developing and managing business rules in IBM ODM, including rule authoring, decision tables, and ruleflow maintenanceDesign and build REST and GraphQL APIs in JavaDesign and implement Kafka producers and consumers including schema design, partitioning strategy, and reliable message processingSetup and manage deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, environment secrets, and automated deployment rulesExperience integrating JFrog Artifactory with CI/CD pipelines for storing, publishing, versioning, and promoting build artifactsWriting JUnit tests with high code coverage, ability to identify and remediate issues from static and dynamic code analysis tools (e.g., CodeQL, SonarQube, security scanners)Work with MySQL, including designing high performance database schemas optimized for high volume transactional workloadsPerform system testing and end to end testing to ensure the delivery of high quality, resilient, and secure code to production, and provide support for production systems as neededDeploying services on Kubernetes based platforms (e.g., HCC K8s), including configuration, scaling, and troubleshootingDevops & Collaboration:Use observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Zabbix, and Grafana to monitor logs, track application performance, analyze trends, and proactively identify issuesCollaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, Business users and operationsParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussion, and agile ceremoniesSupport the application in production, ensuring availability, stability, and timely issue resolutionParticipate in PLM activities, ensuring compliance with organizational release governance and alignment with CI/CD and deployment lifecycle requirementsMaintain detailed and up to date documentation for application features, system behavior, and associated security controls to support engineering and operational excellenceAI Tool Usage:Utilize AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot etc.) for code generation, refactoring, debugging, and documentationApply AI tools to improve test coverage, code quality, and productivityStay updated with emerging AI technologies relevant to software developmentYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field10+ years of experience in IT, with solid focus on application engineering and production operationsHands on experience designing, developing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting applications in production environmentsSolid experience with cloud platforms, APIs, event driven automation, and integration patternsSolid experience with Java, Maven, XML, REST APIs, microservices, and web servicesSolid SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databasesExperience in scripting and automation using Python, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph API, and shell scriptingWorking knowledge of AI tools and their application in engineering workflowsKnowledge of US Healthcare insurance with focus on payer side claims processing.Exposure to Kafka or other streaming platformsProficiency with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub ActionsProven excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearlyComfortable working with global, distributed teams in a fast paced environmentPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
