Adjunct Professor – Communication Overview Lincoln University (LU), a historically black, regional, comprehensive, liberal arts college and university, is a state‑related institution within the Pennsylvania Higher Education System. The university enrolls over 2,000 students, employs more than 100 full‑time faculty members, and offers more than 30 undergraduate programs and selected graduate programs. Summary This is a part‑time, in‑person opportunity for an Adjunct Professor to facilitate undergraduate courses in the field of Communication. A successful candidate should be able to engage thought, encourage questions, and guide meaningful application of course content to individual students and the collective group of learners. The position will cover a range of subject matters such as digital media production and design, writing for communication professionals, social and emerging media strategy, and data‑driven and interactive media. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teach in‑person undergraduate courses in specific content areas as assigned by the Department Chair. Prepare syllabi according to University/Department guidelines. Compile, administer, and grade homework assignments, projects, papers, and exams to promote comprehensive learning. Post course content, assignments, and supporting materials on the Learning Management System (LMS) for easy student access. Provide multiple graded artifacts (assignments, projects, exams) for assessment of the course as needed. Participate in assessment activities by submitting student learning outcome data in a timely manner. Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Chair. Education Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s, Ph.D., or MFA in Communication or a related field preferred. Experience Teaching experience at an undergraduate or graduate institution. Qualifications Master’s degree (or higher) in the Communication discipline required. Prior teaching experience in a university/college setting preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Work Environment Work is primarily performed on a university campus and requires a flexible schedule, including possible evening and weekend work. The employee is subject to indoor environmental conditions and must be able to work in non‑temperature‑controlled spaces. Physical Demands Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as needed; dexterity to write and manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach.
