Office Director, Office of Surveillance Strategy and Risk Prioritization

Overview Office Director, Office of Surveillance Strategy and Risk Prioritization (OSSRP), FDA, Human Foods Program. This position is appointed under Title 21 of the United States Code, using the Pay Table 4, Band G compensation structure. Responsibilities Lead and manage the OSSRP team, including supervisory oversight of three or more subordinate employees. Develop and implement surveillance, risk prioritization, and risk management strategies that impact food safety. Communicate complex, technical information to diverse stakeholders, including state/local partners, national representatives, and Members of Congress. Build and maintain networks and alliances across agencies and sectors to support strategic objectives. Define job duties, evaluate employee performance, recommend promotions, and administer leave and performance modifications. Ensure that the organization’s work complies with FDA policies and federal regulations, including ethical compliance and financial disclosure requirements. Qualifications At least 5 years of experience leading teams or conducting work related to surveillance, risk prioritization, and risk management impacting food. Demonstrated ability to advance innovative initiatives efficiently in the government sector. Experience communicating highly technical information to a range of stakeholders, including state/local officials, national and international representatives, and Members of Congress. Proven track record of strategic decision‑making and achieving business objectives. Knowledge and experience with risk modeling, risk management strategies, public health risk ranking, and evaluation of consumer complaints. Strong supervisory record, including effective management of subordinate supervisors and teams. Proof of meeting the basic educational requirements for a Title 21 position (transcripts to be submitted with application). U.S. citizenship or proof of U.S. nationality.
