Job Title: Applications Engineer
Location: Detroit Lakes, MN
Compensation: Applications Technician level is $50,000-65,000 | Applications Engineer will be $65,000-85,000
Schedule: 1st Shift hours
Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-time About the Opportunity: Doherty Staffing Solutions is partnering with a local Detroit Lakes, MN manufacturing company, as they search for an Application Engineer to join the growing team. The Applications Engineer supplies the initial design concept, layout, and quote estimates to our Sales Team to provide the best possible processing, conveying, and packaging equipment solutions for our customers. Working internally with cross functional teams to provide design specifications, project management, and meeting Customer expectations is an integral part of this role.Responsibilities

• Work with Executive management, Operations, Project management, Sales, and Controls on client projects, expectations, and deliveries.
• Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies to improve Applications design and quoting time
• Maintaining quoting schedules to meet delivery deadlines

• Follow RFQ processes
• Assist in developing RFQ standards and procedures
• Provide estimated cost of build for concept layouts
• Work directly with Customers and Sales Team to gather project information 
• Designs initial concept layouts of new equipment and systems using 2D AutoCAD
• Review concept layouts and designs with Customer and Sales team
• Read through customer specifications to provide Sales with accurate solution and scope on projects
• Assist in calculations to determine labor hours, material and outside services necessary to produce customers request for quote.
• Create complete project documentation for engineering to include drawings related to layout plans, elevation, data sheets and project specifications
• Manages kick-off meetings with Engineering & Controls once a project is approved
• Assist Sales on technical sales visits and project reviews
• Ability to travel to client sites to evaluate project scopes with or without your team when necessary

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Understanding manufacturing processes and job costing and/or estimating experience a plus. Must have mechanical aptitude and/or technical inclination. Knowledge of CAD required with AutoCAD and MS Excel a plus. Associates or Bachelor’s degrees strongly preferred. Desired Skills
