Government Contracts Attorney

Job Overview Our client is a well-established law firm with a nationally recognized government contracts practice. The firm advises contractors ranging from emerging businesses to established federal contractors on procurement lifecycle stages including bid protests, regulatory compliance, contract claims, teaming arrangements, joint ventures, and small business programs. Key Responsibilities Advise clients on a broad range of government contracts matters. Handle bid protests before the GAO, agencies, and other applicable forums. Counsel clients regarding FAR and DFARS compliance. Draft and negotiate teaming agreements, subcontract agreements, and joint venture agreements. Assist clients with contract claims and disputes. Advise on federal procurement regulations and compliance issues. Support mergers and acquisitions involving government contractors. Counsel clients regarding SBA small‑business programs, including 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, and WOSB programs. Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and client correspondence. Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Active bar membership in good standing (Virginia admission preferred or willingness to obtain). Four or more years of government contracts experience. Demonstrated bid protest experience. Strong knowledge of FAR and DFARS. Experience with contract claims, subcontracting, teaming agreements, or joint ventures preferred. Experience with federal small‑business programs is a plus. M&A experience involving government contractors is a plus. Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
