Job Description Summary:

\n

This position independently performs requested ultrasound examinations, searching for any possible pathology as indicated by the patient's symptoms/medical history and/or results from previous testing. The position reviews and discusses the ultrasound findings with the radiologist and a diagnosis is made.\n

\n

Responsibilities And Duties:

\n

60%\n
\nPerforms various ultrasound examinations. Subjectively interprets information based on judgmental decisions by Ultrasonographers, requiring in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathology. Maintains complete knowledge of wave form physics, i.e., , time gain compensation curves, attenuation factors, etc. , required to set equipment variable properly for appropriate imaging of specific anatomy. Assists Radiologists with performance of invasive procedures.\n

\nIndependently evaluates normal vs. abnormal test results in correlation with patient history, previous examinations, lab results, etc.\n

\nIndependently gives preliminary ultrasound results to attending physicians, surgeons, residents, etc. regarding any vascular ultrasound procedures as determined by site accreditation.\n
\n10%\n
\nTeaches/educates imaging students, medical students and residents in basic scanning methods and instrumentation of ultrasound.\n

\nMaintains equipment and stocks supplies. Performs quality control procedures and maintains documentation.\n

\nAs a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.  \n

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree (Required)ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography\n

Additional Job Description:

\n

1-2 yrs ultrasound training from an accredited training program.  Must have both RDMS and RVT registries. 1-2 yrs previous ultrasound experience (clinical training acceptable).  BLS Certification.

\n

Performs QA quarterly to help maintain and grow sonography skills. Provide vascular preliminary results for stat exams. Communicate effective with other departments throughout the facility. Availability for potential call and/or weekend carryover patients.
