Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist

Our U.S. business and international shipment volume are growing, so we are strengthening our internal Customs and Trade Compliance capabilities at SI Electronics Americas LLC. We are looking for a Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team in Doral, Florida. This is more than a logistics or import coordination role. We are looking for someone with hands‑on trade compliance experience who understands both U.S. Customs and U.S. export controls, and who wants to grow with us as we build our internal compliance function. The Role You will support and help develop Customs and Trade Compliance for SI Electronics Americas LLC, covering both import compliance and export control. As our import volume grows, we plan to bring more of our U.S. customs activity in house, and you will be part of that transition. You will work closely with our Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and Logistics teams in the U.S., as well as our international colleagues in Europe and Asia. U.S. Customs & Import Compliance Prepare and process U.S. Customs Entries and Entry Summaries Work with ACE, ABI, and customs filing systems Determine and maintain HTS classifications Review Country of Origin and customs valuation Review Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and supporting documents Monitor customs clearances, holds, and CBP inquiries Review entries submitted by external customs brokers Coordinate with CBP, brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers Support Post Entry Corrections, CBP inquiries, and audits Maintain compliant customs records and support administration of our U.S. Customs Bond Identify customs risks and upscale issues to management Determine and maintain ECCN classifications Review products under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) Assess export, reexport, and transfer requirements, including potential licensing needs Conduct End User and End Use reviews Perform Restricted Party and Denied Party Screening Review destination country restrictions and potential diversion risks Support export license applications and AES/EEI filings where applicable Stay current on regulatory changes affecting our products, customers, and destinations Escalate sensitive or unclear transactions to management and external specialists Product Classification You will help build and maintain reliable classification data for our products, including HTS, ECCN, Country of Origin, license requirements, and supporting documentation. You'll work with manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams to gather what's needed, and help develop a centralized classification database for SI Electronics Americas. Building Our Compliance Structure You will support management in building a scalable Trade Compliance framework, including: Writing and maintaining SOPs and internal procedures Standardizing import and export review processes Supporting the selection and rollout of trade compliance software Assisting with internal compliance reviews and KPI reporting Helping train colleagues in Sales, Purchasing, Operations, and Logistics Your Experience 3–5 years of experience in U.S. Customs, Trade Compliance, Export Compliance, or Customs Brokerage Hands‑on experience with CBP procedures, ACE, and ABI Experience preparing or reviewing Customs Entries Solid knowledge of HTS classification, Country of Origin, and customs valuation Working knowledge of the EAR and ECCN classifications Experience with Restricted Party Screening and End User/End Use reviews Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills Nice to Have Experience in semiconductors, electronic components, electronics distribution, high tech, aerospace, defense, or automotive Exposure to products with complex EAR/ECCN considerations A U.S. Customs Broker License (not required) What We're Looking For We want someone who understandswhy a transaction is compliant and how to document that decision, not someone who simply forwards paperwork to a broker.
