Business Systems Analyst - Enterprise Solutions

The Role

Hermanson Company is a fast-growing specialty mechanical contractor building out an integrated, cloud-based, all-in-with-Microsoft platform to put information in people’s hands and time back in their day. Our Enterprise Solutions team runs the portfolio of initiatives that make that happen including D365 F&O enhancements, Power BI and Fabric reporting, integrating with Construction Technology solutions, and the business process changes that roll out with technology solutions.

This role owns the analysis behind continuous improvement of Hermanson capabilities – our people, processes, information, and solutions needed to stay ahead in today’s competitive environment. You will own workshops with business experts to discover how the work gets done today, assessment what is working and what is not, then model the to-be blueprints for the future. From there, you carry the to-be business design through to the requirements document a developer can build from and a tester can verify.

Responsibilities

• Business engagement and discovery. Build working relationships with process owners and department leaders. Run interviews and workshops that reach past “this is how we’ve always done it” to the real constraints and priorities underneath.
• Process modeling and analysis. Document current-state processes with process maps, then quantify what is happening and what it costs us - handoffs, rework, manual touches, data re-entry. Design the to-be process collaboratively with the business so they own the solution.
• Solution definition. Conduct fit-gap analysis against D365 F&O and the broader Microsoft platform. Work with internal and partner technical experts to shape solutions around how the business operates rather than force the business to fit our tools. Know when the best path is configuration, when it is customization, and when it is time to rethink or automate the process altogether.
• Requirements and specifications. Write user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria. Produce functional design documents, field-level data mappings, report specifications, and integration and security requirements - specific enough that developers and partner consultants can build from them with limited rounds of clarifying questions.
• Test design and validation. Write test cases and scripts that cover the unhappy paths as well as the expected ones. Coordinate business testers through UAT, triage and retest defects, and own functional acceptance: the business verifies the solution against the specification before it reaches production.
• Data and reporting definition. Define metrics and business rules precisely - what counts, what is excluded, which date drives it - and partner with developers to ensure reports can be trusted.
• Documentation, training, and adoption. Produce the SOPs, job aids, and quick-reference material people will use, and help deliver training so new processes stick.
• Continuous improvement. After deployment, measure whether the change delivered what was expected, with the numbers to show it, and define the next increment of work if it did not.

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $140,000. (The compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, engineering, or a related field - or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years as a business analyst or business systems analyst on enterprise application or process improvement work, running the full analysis lifecycle independently.
• Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization - from field staff to executives.
• You arrive prepared, keep a working session moving through disagreement, and leave with the progress you came for.
• Business acumen. You understand how a company makes and loses money and can follow a conversation about margin, cost, and cash. Given competing requests, you can weigh a nice-to-have against a change with a measurable effect.
• Curiosity and initiative. You chase the question to where the process breaks, ask for the conversation you need to have, and bring structure to ambiguous problems.
• Process modeling capability. DFD, swim lane, or BPMN-style mapping in Visio, Lucid, Miro, or similar.
• Written artifacts you can walk us through: a process map, a set of user stories with acceptance criteria, a functional specification, and a test case you personally wrote.
• Data literacy. Comfortable in Excel at a pivot-and-lookup level, able to read a data model or entity relationship diagram, and able to reason about how data moves between systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in construction, specialty trades, or another project-based business: job cost, WIP, progress billing, change orders, labor productivity.
• Experience with D365 Finance & Operations or Microsoft Dynamics AX.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft stack around the ERP: Power BI, Power Platform, Fabric.
• Basic SQL or query-tool skills for validating data yourself.
• CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, Lean Six Sigma, or comparable certification.
• Practical use of AI tools in analysis, documentation, or testing work.
• Demonstrated delivery of AI solutions that are effective, scalable, and secure in a production environment.

Our Interview Process

Our process includes several conversations - with the Enterprise Solutions lead, members of the team, and business stakeholders you would work with. One of these interviews will be a mock working session: a live exercise where you interview us about a messy process and model it. We will also review a work-product sample you bring.

How the Role Starts

You will start on process work already underway and take on additional projects throughout the year. Early on, expect time with stakeholders to see how the work runs before you model it. By the end of your first year, you would typically support two or three initiatives at different stages, alongside the project manager running them.

Location and Work Arrangement

This position is fully remote and open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Our headquarters is in Kent, Washington, with core collaboration hours of 7AM – 3PM PT (10AM – 6PM ET). Occasional travel to Kent is expected, roughly once a year and including at least one visit to see the fabrication shop and field operations firsthand.
