Job Description:

The HSE Advisor/Specialist provides health and safety support for downtown Houston office facilities. This role delivers HSE leadership to operations and project teams to promote a Serious Incident and Fatality (SIF) prevention culture, including Human and Organizational Performance concepts. The position focuses on coaching personnel on safe work practices and permitting for high-risk work, managing contractor safety interfaces, completing assurance and verification activities, supporting incident response and investigations, and contributing to emergency response readiness and safety performance reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide HSE leadership to operations and project teams to promote a SIF Prevention Culture, including Human and Organizational Performance concepts
• Provide in-field coaching on Safe Work Practices and permitting, emphasizing high-risk work and safeguard verification
• Develop, monitor, and verify effectiveness of HSE deliverables and HSE activities to meet expectations
• Participate in Contractor Safety Committee meetings and serve as HSE point of contact for general contractor and subcontractor HSE representatives
• Conduct contractor OE management field verifications/V&V engagements and other assurance activities as directed
• Participate in toolbox talks and JSA development; verify IOGP Start Work Checks are utilized as appropriate
• Contribute to development and implementation of proactive and leading safety metrics
• Address OE/HSE findings from assurance activities (peer assist/review, OE assurance audits, OE audits, site inspections/audits, etc.)
• Participate in emergency response planning and training, as required
• Participate in safety meetings (safety standups, weekly HSE meetings, leadership team walks)
• Support initial incident response and data gathering; participate in investigations as needed and ensure proper classification and reporting is completed
• Communicate a clear vision that generates commitment and support from employees and promote a strong Operational Excellence culture
• Contribute, as required, to preparation of monthly and quarterly safety performance reports
• Work closely with operations and project teams to evaluate work and plan medium- and high-risk work

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Leadership skills
• Strong analytical skills with a sound understanding of root cause analysis
• Strong ability to work independently and interact with multiple companies and various levels of employees and leadership
• Minimum of 10 years direct HSE experience in construction or commercial interiors; preferred experience with oil and gas companies
• Approximately 10-20 years of experience, specifically with oil and gas
• Demonstrated understanding and experience in:
• Occupational Health & Safety legislation/regulations
• Safe Work Practices
• Contractor HSE management
• Incident investigation and reporting
• Human and Organizational Performance
• High-risk safeguard verification
• Construction safety
• Must have:
• Human and Organizational Performance (leading or facilitating incident investigations and root cause analysis)
• Emergency management
• Contractor and subcontractor safety management
• Good to have:
• CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
• Degree in occupational safety and health or similar safety science

Pay: $110/hr (1099)
