Special Education Coordinator

Young World Physical Education

Special Education Coordinator Immediate start, 200 school days plus 17 additional days. Qualifications Master’s Degree (preferred). DESE licensure: Special Education (or related field) and Administrative License. SEI Endorsement required. At least three years of classroom teaching experience appropriate to supervisory grade levels. Prior administrative or team‑chair experience desired. Strong organizational, communication, and management skills. Responsibilities Supervise the special education process from initial referral to implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Assist the Pupil Personnel Director with administrative details for the effective operation of special education programs. Ensure compliance with IDEA and related special education laws for students aged 6‑22. Maintain an electronic IEP database of all students on assigned caseloads. Chair IEP team meetings and act as the local educational agency (LEA) representative. Define service/program proposals in the event of team disagreement. Oversee development of IEPs for students with disabilities. Coordinate special education services among teachers and service providers. Develop and deliver professional development to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals. Support administrators in supervising and evaluating special education staff. Identify staffing needs with building administrators using data, programs, and personnel assessment. Review special education data to make informed decisions to improve student achievement. Establish effective relationships and communication with families of students with disabilities. Develop and maintain scheduling/servicing of special education students with providers and teachers. Participate in design, implementation, and evaluation of specialized programs under the director’s supervision. Coordinate DESE’s compliance review activities for assigned caseloads. Report to building staff on DESE initiatives, audits, and inquiries. Select and administer assessment tools to evaluate students’ functional abilities and present levels of performance. Provide actionable feedback to staff on progress reports and evaluation assessments. Foster collaboration among teachers and paraprofessionals through regular meetings. Organize and coordinate MCAS administration related to accommodations for students with IEPs. Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior and follow policy and procedures. Provide guidance for ESY services with the Special Education Department. Perform other duties at the discretion of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. #J-18808-Ljbffr Young World Physical Education
