Job Overview Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre & Post Op team at our Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN. Schedule This position will be working 56 hours every 2 weeks on the Day/Evening shift Monday through Friday. The schedule includes 8‑hour shifts. Call requirements exceed the FTE and you are required to work on average 6–7 call weekends per year and 1 holiday per year on call. Staff need to be within 30 minutes of the hospital to meet off‑premise call requirements. About The Pre & Post OP At Woodwinds Woodwinds is an 86‑bed hospital opened in 2000 located on 30 acres of pristine wetlands in Woodbury, MN. It is the only hospital in the southeast metro area, providing convenient, comprehensive, and quality health care for the community. 7‑OR Surgery Department with 20‑25 cases per day, patients age 18+ Patient population includes General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, Podiatry, OB/GYN, Plastics, ENT, and Ophthalmology. Responsibilities Understand and incorporate holistic nursing theory based on Watson’s theory of caring, aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses Association and the Woodwinds nursing patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) to achieve the Woodwinds nursing vision. Assess patients and document patient condition according to Perioperative Policy and Standards. Coordinate and communicate care with members of the health care team and delegate responsibilities to others as appropriate, fostering teamwork. Demonstrate ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of the population served. Evaluate care, adapt interventions, and prioritize care based on patient assessment, using resources to respond to emergency situations. Perform specific duties including pre‑admission phone calls, admissions day of surgery, monitoring, and continuous assessment of patients following procedure until ready for transfer to the floor, as well as Phase 2 care to include intensive patient education that assures readiness for discharge to home. Execute critical care skills such as airway and hemodynamic management, pain management, and excellent assessment skills for patients in altered states of consciousness. Cultivate a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Perform all responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
