Technical Facilities Manager

Maintain technical readiness across all three performance venues: lighting (ETC Ion XE or comparable consoles), sound (digital/analog consoles such as the Behringer X32), assisted listening, and video/projection systems. Own equipment inventory across all Space4Arts spaces — the three performance venues and the ten rehearsal studios — including lamps, lighting, and sound gear; conduct safety inspections and coordinate repairs and replacement ordering. Lead technical walkthroughs and onboarding for incoming renting companies and stage managers ahead of load‑in. Oversee load‑in/load‑out for performance bookings; maintain each venue's standard "reset" state between renters. Maintain dressing rooms and backstage areas in performance venues, including keeping restroom supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap) stocked. Serve as the technical feasibility reviewer for contract exceptions — non‑standard rigging, power draws, or technical requests are routed to you for a feasibility assessment, decided jointly with the Operations Director. The Executive Director is looped in only when an exception touches a long‑term relationship, such as a Resident Company/RCOB matter. Participate in the on‑site (Tier 2) on‑call rotation as the primary holder of the dedicated performance‑venue on‑call phone line; coordinate with the Senior Facilities Assistant, who holds the general on‑call line covering all other TPS spaces, and with Seattle Center engineering/security as needed. Participate in the monthly meetings of the Resident Company Operating Board (RCOB) as a technical resource and expert on our spaces. Own accessibility and TPS's IDEA goals as they relate to physical facilities access across all Space4Arts spaces — performance venues and rehearsal studios alike. Provide technical expertise supporting TPS's signature events — including the Gregory Awards Ceremony and Unified General Auditions (UGAs) — as assigned; this may include occasional off‑site technical work. Coordinate with Seattle Center maintenance and security on building‑level issues outside TPS's direct control. The Technical Facilities Manager owns the technical readiness of TPS’s three performance venues at the Seattle Center Armory — Center Theatre, Blackbox Theatre, and Theatre4 — and owns equipment inventory across all of Space4Arts, venues and rehearsal studios alike. This is a hands‑on, technically fluent role responsible for keeping each venue’s lighting, sound, and staging systems safe and show‑ready, supporting renting companies through technical walkthroughs and load‑in/load‑out, and serving as the on‑site technical authority for the spaces TPS’s earned‑revenue model depends on. This role supports venue infrastructure and renter technical orientation. It does not execute production design or run shows for renting companies. 2+ years of hands‑on technical theatre experience (lighting, sound, scenic, or similar). Working knowledge of theatrical lighting and sound systems (e.g., ETC Ion XE or comparable consoles; digital/analog sound boards such as the Behringer X32). OSHA 30 certificate or ability to complete one within the first 90 days. Comfortable working independently against a real‑time venue calendar with multiple renters in rotation. Physically able to perform maintenance and load‑in/out tasks (ladder work, moving equipment, minor repairs). Clear, professional communication with renting companies — this role is a technical resource and a customer‑facing one. Other Details Pay Range: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour (Non-Exempt) Overtime: Paid at 1.5x the regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek, pre‑approved by supervisor.
