Automation Assembly Technician
The Automation Assembly Technician is a hands-on, onsite position responsible for building, assembling, and integrating automated equipment systems used across the organization. This role focuses on mechanical and electrical fabrication, system integration, and deployment of new automation equipment to improve throughput, reduce manual handling, and support scalable automation solutions. The position is based in Monroe, WA and works closely with the automation and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, reliable equipment builds.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and integrate mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for automation equipment.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and CAD designs to build and assemble equipment accurately.
- Build, route, and install wiring, control panels, and electrical components for automation systems.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to perform precise mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
- Support prototyping activities by assembling, modifying, and refining new automation designs.
- Assist with testing and iteration of new automation concepts to improve performance and reliability.
- Participate in equipment installation and commissioning activities at the production site.
- Assist with validation, testing, and startup of new equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Configure components such as sensors, actuators, motors, and control system elements for integrated automation solutions.
- Collaborate closely with engineering to refine designs for manufacturability, reliability, and ease of assembly.
- Follow production and assembly processes to ensure consistent, high-quality builds that support throughput goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle tools and equipment safely in a warehouse and production environment.
Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on fabrication and assembly experience in a production or automation environment.
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly of electro-mechanical systems, including mounting, alignment, and fastener use.
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems such as motors, drives, sensors, and actuators.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Experience building, routing, and installing wiring, panels, and electrical components.
- Comfortable and proficient using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and CAD-based designs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain and discuss technical concepts effectively.
- Capability to stand and work on hard surfaces for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to squat, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, and twist at the waist as needed for assembly tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally as part of equipment assembly and handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field.
- Basic experience with PLCs, robotics, or automation systems.
- Experience building custom automation or production equipment.
- Exposure to CAD tools or design-for-assembly principles.
- Experience working in a prototyping or research and development (R&D) environment.
- Experience in production environments where throughput and manual handling reduction are priorities.

Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in a warehouse and production environment in Monroe, WA. You will work around automated equipment, fabrication tools, and production lines while assembling and integrating mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. The position involves standing on hard surfaces for most of the shift, performing physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally. The environment is hands-on and shop-floor oriented, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. No specific personal protective equipment, medical requirements, or formal certifications are mandated beyond the skills and qualifications described.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
