Speech Language Pathologist, SLP

Provide direct speech/language pathology services to referred patients of all ages Plan individualized, age-appropriate treatment programs based on referrals, evaluations, patient/family goals, clinical judgment, and pertinent information Maintain a productive schedule averaging 6.0 of 8.0 hours per day in direct clinical care Inform the manager of schedule openings and cancellations Administer daily treatment and adjust treatment plans to changing patient needs Complete competency assessments related to patient care Provide special services such as video swallow studies Communicate with physicians, team members, professionals, families, and caregivers to support optimum patient care Establish rapport with patients and provide education to patients and families Select and instruct patients on appropriate assistive devices Determine readiness for discharge and plan discharge, including home treatment plans or continued services Administer and interpret initial assessments of communication, cognition, swallowing, articulation, fluency, and voice functions Select assessment procedures for patients' abilities and limitations Complete documentation according to departmental policy Perform charge entry, maintain a clean work environment, and participate in committees and program development May supervise speech pathology students and interns after obtaining Certificate of Clinical Competence Requirements Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (required) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA) Successfully complete all competency assessments related to patient care Certificate of Clinical Competence required before supervising speech pathology students and interns Ability to provide speech/language pathology services to infants, children, adolescents, and adults depending on assignment Ability to perform video swallow studies and swallowing assessments Ability to assess verbal expression, non-verbal communication, auditory comprehension, written expression, reading comprehension, cognition, swallowing, articulation, fluency, and voice Ability to select and use appropriate evaluation procedures, treatment programs, and assistive devices Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in providing speech/language pathology services across all age groups, including conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans. Proficient in administering video swallow studies and utilizing assistive devices to enhance patient care.
