RN Med Surg Telemetry

The Registered Nurse on the Med Surg/Tele Night unit is responsible for assessing patient conditions, coordinating nursing care, administering medications, and developing individualized care plans. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive treatment and discharge planning. The nurse must maintain a clean and safe environment, communicate patient status changes effectively, and participate in quality assurance activities. At least two years of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing is required, along with certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Responsibilities:

• Assess patient condition and nursing needs on Med Surg/Telemetry unit.
• Coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines.
• Develop individualized written care plans including teaching and discharge planning.
• Administer medications and direct nursing care requiring professional judgment.
• Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Communicate patient condition changes to Charge RN or Clinician.
• Document patient/family teaching and assess understanding.
• Ensure patient education aligns with physician or designee instructions.
• Collaborate effectively with staff and other departments.
• Participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities or committees.
• Float occasionally to other Med Surg, Tele units, ER Hold, and rarely ICU/CCU as support nurse.

• Minimum of 2 years experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
• Active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Active PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification due to occasional pediatric admissions.
• Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.

• Experience in pediatric patient care for patients over 5 years old.
• Experience floating to emergency, ICU, or CCU units.

• Must be willing to float occasionally to other units including ER Hold and ICU/CCU.
• Shared housing available for staff.
• Occasional care of pediatric patients over 5 years old requiring PALS certification.

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
