Position OverviewAs a Location General Manager (LGM), you will have responsibility for the operations of one or more CarMax locations, ensuring an exceptional experience for both associates and customers. Whether you’re advancing your career or growing your skillset, we are here to drive you forward.Role ResponsibilitiesLead total store operations, focusing on associate development, profitability, and customer satisfaction, with emphasis on sales processes and budget management.Manage financial performance through effective P&L oversight and cost-control initiatives.Drive operational excellence by reducing waste and introducing process improvements that enhance customer and associate experiences.Recruit, train, and promote associates, ensuring a strong pipeline of talent to support store success and company growth.Foster engagement and development through regular feedback, performance reviews, and coaching conversations.Provide vision and motivation to senior management teams, setting clear strategies and goals for store success.Responsible for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program for your department and/or location, including but not limited to self-inspections, hazardous waste disposal, workplace safety, and PPE.Required QualificationsAbility to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and associates across departments.Proficiency in data interpretation and record management for accurate reporting and decision-making.Demonstrated ability to make independent, critical business decisions and identify improvement opportunities.5+ years of management experience, preferably in retail, with proven leadership capabilities.Completion of CarMax-provided training and intermediate PC skills.Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel for meetings or training.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s DegreeAbout CarMaxAt CarMax, we revolutionized the used car buying experience over 30 years ago by introducing transparency and integrity into the process. For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
