Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Night Shift Nursing Team!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (1830-0630)
- Location: Acute Care Setting
- Department: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)


Key Responsibilities:


- Provide exceptional patient care in a 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 24
- Work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 on both days and nights
- Common patient diagnoses:
- Cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory challenges, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, renal failure
- Competently manage and titrate drips (Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin)


Requirements:


- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Proficient in arterial line management
- Charge nurse available on each shift; they do take an assignment
- Collaborate with nurse aides/patient care techs (1:12 ratio)


Technical Skills:


- Familiarity with RT Equipment: Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow
- RNs required to read and interpret telemetry strips


Working Environment:


- Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners support patient care
- Focus on patient experience, responsiveness, and communication about medications


Expectations:


- Flexible and adaptable mindset, open to feedback
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Serve diverse cultural populations, primarily Hispanic and Somalian

Scheduling Details:


- Weekend Requirements: Every other
- Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during your contract
- Floating allowed to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patients

Orientation:


- 1 day of unit/department-specific orientation

Additional Information:


- RTO (Request Time Off) needed upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract)
- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Charting System: EPIC
- BSN not required
