Facility Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Pflugerville Shift & Status PRN Schedule Night Shift (7pm – 7am) Candidate Requirements Candidates must have IMC/ICU experience. This is a mixed acuity unit. Candidates must be willing to take assignments in Med/Surg, Tele, IMC, or ICU as needed by the department. Main Nursing Unit Patient Population: Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Intermediate Care, Critical Care. # of beds: 25, with the anticipation of doubling in size with the expansion. Patient Ratios: Med Surg/Tele – 1:4/5; Progressive Care/Intermediate Care – 1:3; Intensive Care – 1:2. Unit Overview Baylor Scott & White – Pflugerville features a 25‑bed Main Nursing Unit which is a blended unit with three levels of acuity and operates from a multidisciplinary approach in providing the highest standards of nursing care to patients and families. The facility also offers 24/7 emergency services (an 8‑bed Emergency Department) and surgical services (offering adult and pediatric surgeries). The facility is under construction for an expansion expected to be completed by the end of 2025, including a new heart catheterization lab and other imaging and OR capabilities. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating and implementing care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel and understand patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions of the Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs; create, implement, and evaluate care plans; adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and remain professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Create care plans reflecting values to resolve issues. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices; assess and document learning needs regularly. Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan; delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff; recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, contribute to peers' development, and show community service commitment. Key Success Factors Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures. Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, guidelines, and hospital procedures. Proficiency in medical terms focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with diverse parties. Excellent problem‑solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, email. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited program. Specialized field of study: nursing. RN license. BLS certification (or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role).
