Overview This is an on-site position based in San Diego, California for an experienced Plumbing Designer who wants to lead the technical execution of commercial plumbing system designs, mentor junior designers, coordinate multidisciplinary projects, and contribute to the continued growth of a rapidly expanding MEP engineering firm. Annual Salary Range: $90,000–$100,000 , based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical expertise. At 120 Degreez, we invest in our team's long-term success—professionally and personally. 401(k) with up to 3% employer match 70% employer-paid medical insurance + 100% dental and vision $1,500 annual professional development and certification allowance Paid Company Holidays + 2 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) + 1 week Paid Sick Leave Clear career advancement pathway from Designer through Principal Collaborative, structured, and growth-focused work environment Who This Role Is For You take ownership of producing high-quality plumbing engineering designs You enjoy mentoring junior designers while continuing to expand your own technical expertise You have extensive experience designing U.S.-based commercial plumbing systems You want to grow into future engineering and project leadership opportunities What You\'ll Do Design domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, grease waste, specialty piping systems, and other plumbing building systems for commercial projects Produce complete construction documents utilizing Revit and AutoCAD Coordinate plumbing system designs with mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, and civil disciplines Perform pipe sizing calculations, equipment selections, fixture schedules, plumbing riser diagrams, and code compliance coordination Review project drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with company QA/QC standards Mentor junior designers and assist with technical development across the plumbing team Participate in client meetings, project coordination meetings, and internal design reviews Support Project Managers and Engineers with project execution while maintaining schedule and quality expectations What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days) Fully integrated into project teams and company workflows Producing high-quality construction documents with minimal supervision Successfully coordinating plumbing designs across multiple disciplines Building strong working relationships with team members while consistently delivering projects on schedule Non-Negotiable Requirements 7+ years of U.S.-based commercial plumbing design experience Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard plumbing design software Experience preparing construction documents for commercial MEP projects Thorough understanding of the California Plumbing Code (CPC), California Building Code (CBC), California Mechanical Code (CMC), California Energy Code (Title 24), and applicable industry codes Experience designing domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, and other commercial plumbing systems Experience performing pipe sizing calculations, fixture unit calculations, equipment selection, and multidisciplinary coordination Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines Work Authorization We are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
