Customs Entry Writer

Company Overview: Altius Talent is partnering with a well-established freight forwarding and customs brokerage organization to identify an experienced Customs Entry Writer for their New Jersey operation. Position Overview: The Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for preparing and filing accurate customs entries for import shipments, ensuring full compliance with CBP regulations and client requirements. This role suits a detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of tariff classification and entry processes. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and transmit customs entries (ABI) for ocean and air import shipments Classify merchandise using HTS codes and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees Review shipping documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) for accuracy and compliance Coordinate with CBP, PGAs, and internal operations teams to resolve entry discrepancies or holds Ensure timely release of shipments and proper recordkeeping per CBP requirements Monitor ISF filings and flag compliance issues as needed Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade regulations, tariffs, and customs rulings Key Skills & Qualifications: 2+ years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in a similar customs brokerage role Strong working knowledge of HTS classification, CBP regulations, and ABI filing Experience with CargoWise or similar customs entry software preferred Familiarity with PGA requirements (FDA, USDA, etc.) a plus Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment What's on Offer: Opportunity to work with an established, growth-oriented brokerage team #J-18808-Ljbffr
