Physical TherapistThis is a PRN SNF position in Roanoke, Alabama. Location: Traylor Retirement Community. We will cover the cost for Alabama licensure.The Staff Physical Therapist shall be responsible for providing quality physical therapy services and assisting in departmental operation. Performance requirements include organizing and rendering physical therapy services. Physical demands involve lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and materials up to 50 pounds without help, over 50 pounds with help of mechanical devices or other personnel. The Staff Physical Therapist must also stoop, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, and have visual acuity to perform their duties.Special demands include demonstrating knowledge and manual skills necessary for performing quality patient care, having a preference for working with people and motivating them to achieve optimum performance, and possessing oral and written skills necessary to communicate with staff, patients, and physicians, and to prepare meaningful reports. The Staff Physical Therapist must also understand basic concepts of management, have good problem-solving skills, and be able to supervise supportive personnel. They should perform self-evaluation and accept criticism in a constructive manner, demonstrate dedication to the profession through reliable and reasonable behavior.Qualifications include a minimum level of B.S. degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution offering training in this specialty. One year of experience is preferred, but recent graduates are encouraged to reach out for more information. COVID vaccination is preferred for this position, but an exemption will be entertained. Must be licensed by the Alabama State of Physical Therapy.Work performed includes evaluating patients referred to Physical Therapy to determine their current physical and functional status, planning and conducting a therapy program for patients, applying diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional ability tests, directing and aiding patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and gait and functional training, making use of equipment such as muscle and nerve stimulators, ultrasound machines, and other therapeutic electrical machines, giving whirlpool and contrast baths and applying moist heat and cold packs, directing patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, canes, crutches, walkers, and prosthetic and orthopedic devices, giving instruction in posture control and therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient, adapting conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises, observing, recording, and reporting patient's condition, reactions and responses, directing and supervising activities of supportive personnel, conducting and participating in training of Physical Therapy Technicians and Physical-Therapist Assistants in physical therapy techniques and objectives, providing a safe, clean Physical Therapy Department, and performing related duties as assigned.
