Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator Shop Golden, CO, US Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually Position Summary: The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator manages activities and projects to promote health and safety, protect the environment, and provide occupational and workplace safety and training. The coordinator is also responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies such as OSHA and EPA. General Description: The coordinator outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform staff on work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention. They track and document incidents to understand root causes, recommend changes, perform inspections and audits, and recommend corrective actions. The coordinator documents injury/illness/near‑miss/first‑aid incidents and distributes reports to management, promotes a safe working environment through training, accident investigations, and continuous improvement based on near‑miss data. Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.; Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (schedule may be adjusted). Essential Functions: Composes, administers, and implements OSHA workplace safety, environmental protection, and safety programs. Evaluates and improves procedures to promote safe work practices. Collaborates with cross‑functional departments to develop and implement safety policies and procedures that meet OSHA requirements. Leads reviews of safety incidents with stakeholders and develops prevention strategies. Reviews and interprets statutory and regulatory requirements to develop compliance policies and procedures. Performs incident investigations and reports findings to management. Identifies opportunities to minimize or eliminate workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems. Coordinates with outside parties to test and monitor potential environmental issues such as Hexavalent Chromium, Grade D Breathing Air, Silica Dust, and sound levels. Coordinates annual testing for employees regarding hearing, vision, respirator fit, etc. Coordinates employee training programs on applicable safety standards. Assists with acquiring permits associated with Environmental Health and Safety services from the relevant jurisdiction. Provides support and recommends repair or replacement of personal protective equipment and ergonomic equipment. Maintains positive relationships with internal employees, external vendors, stakeholders, and agencies. Education: Relevant educational background required (specific degree not specified). Experience: 3–5 years of experience. Previous experience working in a metal fab shop preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem‑solving and multi‑tasking abilities. Knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and practices. Ability to remain composed in emergent and crisis situations. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. Previous experience in a safety role required. Spanish language communication is an advantage. Licenses and/or Certifications: OSHA 30 certification required, or ability to obtain within 6 months after hire. ASP (Associate Safety Professional) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred. Travel: Up to 10% travel. Additional Information: This job description is not comprehensive.
