Engineering Technician VI

OverviewSCCI is seeking an Engineering Technician VI to support a Gun Weapons System (GWS) laboratory environment to join our team! In this position you will work in a fast pace, team environment that requires critical thinking, troubleshooting and repairing complex gun weapon systems in a timely manner. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn new technical concepts quickly. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.SCCI offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability benefits, 401k with Company Match, time off consisting of 2 weeks of paid vacation, 56 hours of sick/personal leave, and 11 paid Holidays.Responsibilities:Provides laboratory maintenance by creating and maintaining a shipboard functional Develops and executes test plans, procedures, and cases for weapon systems and subsystems in a laboratory environmentConducts system-level testing to validate and verify performance against design requirements and specificationsAnalyzes test data to identify, document, and report on system anomalies, failures, and deficienciesPrepares comprehensive test reports and provides recommendations for corrective actionsWork in a fast pace, team environment that requires critical thinking, troubleshooting and repairing complex gun weapon systems in a timely mannerConfigures and maintains the system integration lab (SIL) and test-bed environments, including hardware, software, and networking componentsPerforms integration and testing of weapon system software and hardware componentsTroubleshoots and debugs complex issues to isolate the root cause of failuresCollaborates with design engineers, software developers, and program managers to resolve technical issues and ensure system integritySupports the planning and execution of developmental and operational test eventsEnsures all testing activities are conducted safely and in accordance with established protocols and regulationsEssential Skills and Experience:Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an Active Secret Security ClearanceHigh school diplomaFifteen (15) years of experience in applying engineering services to engagement system components and assembliesThis experience includes developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance, and assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting dataAbility to be proactive and self-driven to deliver high quality results in a fast pace environmentHardware/Electronics Technician Certification or Equivalent Experience or TrainingExperience with assembling military style connectors and copper cablingAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced team environmentSelf-motivated to drive projects to completion with minimal supervision when requiredAbility to plan and coordinate individual assignments to meet project goalsAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingPreferred Skills and Experience:Experience in a test and evaluation environment, preferably with a focus on defense or Naval systemsKnowledge of systems engineering principles and the system development lifecycleExperience with test automation, scripting languages (e.g., Python), and data analysis toolsFamiliarity with military standards or NAVSEA standards or other regulatory requirements is highly desirableStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environmentExperience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting up to 440VExperience building and wiring combat systems from the ground up that includes military fiber, copper cabling and RS232Experience building prototype mechanical devices to support lab efficiencyKnowledge of how electromechanical devices operate and the ability to troubleshootKnowledge of complex lab infrastructure that includes cooling, wiring, conduit and overall efficiencySCCI is committed to providing a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to meet the needs of employees and their families.
