Senior Software Engineer - Position Overview
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and deploying cloud-based applications for client engagements. This role works closely with cross-functional teams, including solution architects and project managers, to deliver reliable, high-quality cloud solutions. The position reports into the leadership of the Application Modernization practice.



Key Responsibilities

• Deliver technical guidance and cloud-based solutions that align with business goals by designing, architecting, maintaining, and operationalizing applications and systems on AWS.
• Design, build, integrate, optimize, and administer cloud platforms, infrastructure, and supporting services.
• Assess, prototype, and roll out new cloud technologies and processes that enhance current infrastructure and modernization initiatives, and make recommendations for future direction.
• Maintain existing software, including triaging, analyzing, and resolving defects.
• Improve performance and long-term maintainability of existing codebases through targeted refactoring.
• Own medium to large feature work end-to-end, from initial design through production deployment.
• Execute pull/merge requests, manage branches, and handle builds and deployments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple technology stacks.
• Act as technical lead on projects when needed.
• Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to design documentation.
• Produce clear, accurate documentation for the software being delivered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline - or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven or more years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• AWS certifications such as Cloud Practitioner, Developer - Associate, or Solutions Architect - Associate.

Required Skills

• Strong development experience in Java or Go, with the ability to design and architect complex, multi-layer enterprise applications (Java 21+ or Go 1.23+).
• Solid grounding in cloud architecture, cloud-native design patterns, compute, storage, and database services.
• Working knowledge of information security best practices.
• Hands-on experience with AWS compute, messaging and queueing, object storage, and database services.
• Proficiency with at least one Infrastructure-as-Code tool, with Terraform strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in software design, coding, debugging, and testing.
• Familiarity with MySQL 5.7 and 8.x, including AWS Aurora MySQL.
• Exposure to DynamoDB or another NoSQL technology.
