Job Title: Prevention Educator 

Position Type: Part-time, seasonal

Hours of Work: 20-25 hrs/week (School year calendar)

Position Reports to: Prevention Director

Position Summary : The Prevention Educator delivers the Center’s Kids Have Rights™ child sexual abuse prevention program to students throughout Kent County. Through engaging, age-appropriate body-safety education, this position helps children build knowledge and protective skills, identify trusted adults, and understand how to seek help when needed. Prevention Educators work closely with students, educators, school staff, and caregivers and serve as representatives of the Kids Have Rights™ program and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kent County.

Essential Functions: 

• Deliver age-appropriate Kids Have Rights™ body-safety and child sexual abuse prevention education in participating schools.
• Present program content in an engaging, developmentally appropriate, and consistent manner.
• Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation, learning, and understanding of body-safety concepts.
• Respond appropriately to student questions, concerns, and disclosures and follow required mandated reporting and confidentiality procedures.
• Build positive and professional relationships with students, educators, school staff, caregivers, and other program partners.
• Coordinate with school personnel and the Prevention team to support effective program delivery.
• Represent the Kids Have Rights™ program and the Center professionally within schools and the community.
• Maintain accurate and timely program, participation, and other required records.
• Support program evaluation and data collection efforts, including participant feedback. 
• Participate in team meetings, required training, and professional development. 
• Support Kids Have Rights™ program activities and initiatives as needed.
  Qualifications:
• Education or experience in education, child development, social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage comfortably and effectively with groups of children in a classroom setting.
• Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to sensitive information and child disclosures.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school personnel and Center staff.
• Proficiency with common office and administrative technology; experience with Google Workspace & Microsoft Teams preferred. 
• Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation for regular travel to schools and program sites.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

This position requires regular travel to schools throughout Kent County and frequent interaction with children, educators, and caregivers. Work is performed in both school and office environments and may involve exposure to sensitive or emotionally challenging information related to child safety and abuse. The position requires standing and presenting for extended periods, working in active classroom environments, and occasionally lifting or transporting educational materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Additional Information: 

Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved work-related travel between schools and program sites.
