Job Title: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics Profession: RN Specialty: OB Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of five years preferred, supervisory experience required License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE certification Must-Have: EPIC experience required, floating to other locations as needed Description: Focus on growth and technological expertise in a community and regional teaching hospital. This role involves providing unit-based leadership in collaboration with nursing staff and physicians. Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel. Ensure that all patients receive cost-effective, professional care resulting in positive outcomes and high patient satisfaction. Assess and take steps to improve the quality of patient experience. Initiate and coordinate patient care plans through conferences with health team members, patients, and families. Monitor personnel in the performance of patient care activities to ensure adequate care. Participate in patient care as needed and foster an environment centered around patient and family needs. Encourage feedback on the quality of nursing services and address any concerns. Develop strategies to improve customer satisfaction for patients, families, and physicians. Investigate and resolve patient care and operational issues as necessary. Ensure compliance with patient safety goals and hospital policies. Work closely with clinical team members to enhance staff capacity to meet patient needs. Assess department operations for opportunities to improve care. Manage staffing based on patient acuity and needs, ensuring effective utilization of skills. Allocate staff to specific patients based on skillsets, patient needs, and workload balance. Facilitate staff breaks and manage schedule adjustments as necessary. Evaluate the performance of unit employees and provide coaching or disciplinary actions when required. Involved in hiring and termination decisions of unit personnel. Instruct new personnel on job duties and assignments. Ensure department safety and cleanliness, coordinating the repair of malfunctioning equipment. Document unit activities, incidents, and special needs in a timely manner. Manage staffing costs effectively. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
