Key statistics:950+ Consultants640+ Ph.D.s90+ Disciplines30+ Offices globally Our Opportunity We are currently seeking a Managing Scientist with a focus in Water Resources, Agricultural, or Nutrient Management for our Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice in our Washington, DC office. Position locations in our Alexandria, VA, Bellevue, WA, Philadelphia, PA, Menlo Park, CA, or Pasadena, CA offices will also be considered. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide technical support on existing projects and business development efforts in the Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice. You will be responsible for Strategic business development and client networking with the aim to grow a broad range of science and engineering technical services globally in water resources, agricultural, and nutrient management arenaUnderstanding and interpreting water resources and land-use activities focusing on environmental issues, including agricultural and nutrient managementDemonstrated understanding of relevant federal and state government regulations, environmental monitoring, site infrastructure, and production processesDirecting and supporting the conduct of analyses and preparing regulatory documents and expert reportsSynthesizing technical information and applying creative and critical thinking to prepare and review reports and technical presentationsDeveloping and maintaining professional status by authoring peer-reviewed publications, and participating in technical conferences and activities of professional societiesWorking cooperatively on projects with other members of the Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice and interdisciplinary groups from other Exponent practices as appropriate You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. in Water Resources, Ecology, Agricultural Science, Engineering, or another related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of professional experience, with at least three (3) years of direct consulting experienceExpert-level knowledge of various land-use activities, including agricultural science, soil science, crop and livestock management, water resources, including irrigation practices, pest management, and nutrient managementWorking knowledge of farming practices with a strong understanding of scientific sampling methodologies and the state-of-science on a broad range of terrestrial, wildlife, soil, and water quality issuesProven experience with data analysis and statisticsProven experience managing tasks of moderate scope and complexityAbility to work independently, prioritize multiple projects and tasks with competing deadlines, and communicate within multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated ability in written and oral communicationsStrong commitment to personal development and the development of staffNot required, but any of the following experiences would be a plus:Understanding of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations pertinent to agriculture, water quality, and related environmental sciences, including USDA, ESA, NEPA, and Clean Water Act in the U.S. and similar laws and regulations in other countriesExperience in addressing domestic animals, including cattle, swine, fowl, and aquacultureExperience in addressing both proactive and litigation-related mattersPresently legally authorized to work in the United States. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process. Salary Range USD $136,000.00 - USD $166,000.00 /Yr.
