Registered Nurse In Intensive/Critical Care (Icu)

A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective, patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are essential aspects of this role. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education is vital, supported by a practice governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Utilizing the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. Focusing on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction is a priority. The RN applies his or her educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
• Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
• Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
• Reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
• Collaborates with patients and families as well as interdisciplinary services.
• Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families.
• Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions.
• Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
• Ensures education is appropriate to care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge.
• Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
• Functions as a mentor or preceptor and demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.
• Identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement.
• Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
• Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the practice governance model.
