Location: Santa Ana, CA

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical Design for Manufacturability (DFM) activities across a portfolio of electronic products. This role serves as the technical bridge between engineering and manufacturing, ensuring PCB assemblies and electrical designs are optimized for manufacturability, reliability, cost, quality, and long-term production .


The ideal candidate has strong PCB/PCBA experience and a background in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments .
Key Responsibilities

• Lead DFM and DFA reviews for new and existing PCB assemblies.
• Review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, Gerber files, fabrication drawings, and production documentation.
• Identify and resolve component obsolescence and lifecycle risks.
• Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain, suppliers, and EMS partners to improve manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain electrical DFM guidelines and best practices.
• Optimize PCB layouts for solderability, spacing, accessibility, yield, and assembly efficiency.
• Evaluate designs for production readiness and compliance with applicable industry standards.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, design simplification, and improved manufacturing throughput.
• Support component standardization and availability initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and training on DFM methodology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in PCB design, DFM, DFA, or electronic product development.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing preferred.
• Strong experience with DFM/DFA reviews and implementing design improvements.
• Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or Mentor Graphics .
• Strong understanding of component lifecycle management and obsolescence mitigation.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-600, IPC-610, and MIL-STD design guidelines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred

• Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Experience working directly with EMS/CEM providers .
• PLM/ERP experience.
• Familiarity with AS9100 and ITAR/EAR requirements.
• Experience with DFT, AOI, ICT, or automated test processes.
