Warren Consolidated Schools is seeking applicants for the Director Of Information Technology position for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 12-month position under the Warren Administrators Association.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field required
• Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required
• Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated success in enterprise networking, systems, information technology operations, or a closely related field required
• Previous experience in a school district / K-12 setting preferred

Essential Functions

• Administers cloud phone services and integrates telephony, collaboration tools, and enterprise wireless with LAN/WAN and Internet services for the purpose of supporting District communications.
• Aligns technology investments with instructional goals, operational needs, bond work, and E-Rate funding opportunities for the purpose of maximizing value and available funding.
• Approves and administers user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with District policy and least-privilege practice for the purpose of controlling access to District systems.
• Assesses, approves, and administers equipment, hardware, software, and cloud-service upgrades for the purpose of keeping District systems current, supported, and secure.
• Attends meetings, conferences, and training sessions as assigned for the purpose of gathering and sharing information, supporting District operational objectives, and ensuring compliance with District, state, and federal requirements.
• Collaborates with District personnel, outside agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders for the purpose of implementing, maintaining, and improving technology services, programs, and partnerships.
• Coordinates maintenance of the District's private fiber network and wide-area connectivity for the purpose of protecting inter-building communications and Internet access.
• Coordinates major infrastructure projects such as wireless upgrades, switch refreshes, cabling, PA, AV systems, and security solutions for the purpose of completing capital and bond technology work on schedule and to specification.
• Coordinates with Facilities on shared capital and operational work, including controls, security cameras, PA/AV systems, construction technology, and bond-funded infrastructure, for the purpose of aligning technology and building systems and completing projects on schedule and to specification.
• Designs and implements short- and long-term technology plans for the purpose of ensuring network, wireless, cloud, and systems capacity meet current and future District needs.
• Designs, deploys, and supports enterprise wireless networks, including Aruba access points and related controllers/management, for the purpose of providing coverage that meets instructional and operational demand.
• Develops and maintains the District technology design and related procedures, standards, and documentation for the purpose of providing consistent, supportable, and secure technology operations.
• Directs cybersecurity operations, including firewall policies, VPN, endpoint detection and response (EDR), email filters, identity and access management, logging, and incident response, for the purpose of reducing risk and protecting District data and systems.
• Directs Information Technology staff, including help desk, systems, print-shop, and performing arts theatre technical support staff; assigns work, provides guidance, and supports professional growth for the purpose of maintaining a capable, responsive technology team.
• Ensures reliable operation of network hardware, including Extreme Networks switches, Aruba wireless controllers and access points, Palo Alto firewalls, routers, and UPS systems, for the purpose of providing stable connectivity across the District.
• Establishes methods for testing network and systems performance and produces regular performance, uptime, and security reports for the purpose of monitoring service quality and informing operational decisions.
• Establishes regular written and in-person communication with administrators, schools, and other stakeholders on technology work that affects them for the purpose of coordinating service and reducing disruption.
• Manages servers (physical and virtual) and enterprise platforms, including Microsoft 365 / Entra, PowerSchool, email, file, print, backup, phone, video, and related operating systems and applications, for the purpose of maintaining reliable core systems.
• Monitors server, firewall, identity, VPN, and EDR security alerts for unusual activity; interprets findings and recommends or implements resolution for the purpose of detecting and containing threats promptly.
• Negotiates with vendors, contractors, and service providers and supports bid specifications, E-Rate filings, and contract administration for the purpose of securing compliant, cost-effective goods and services.
• Oversees Help Desk intake by phone, email, and ticket systems for the purpose of ensuring issues are handled courteously and resolved in a timely manner.
• Oversees technical support staff for the performing arts theatre for the purpose of meeting production, event, and instructional technology needs.
• Oversees the District copier fleet, PaperCut print-management software, and District printers for the purpose of keeping devices available, accounted for, and supported.
• Oversees the District print shop and production-level print requests, including queue management and work-order escalation, for the purpose of completing staff production requests accurately and on time.
• Performs and tests backups and restores so District data is protected and recoverable for the purpose of business continuity and disaster recovery.
• Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., responding to emergency calls or alerts and operational matters) for the purpose of ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient functioning of District technology operations.
• Plans, acquires, and coordinates installation of hardware and software across District sites, including remote and school-based locations, for the purpose of deploying technology in a timely and coordinated manner.
• Practices technology asset management, including inventory, lifecycle replacement, licensing, and related documentation, for the purpose of protecting District assets and planning replacement cycles.
• Prepares and/or reviews documentation for Board of Education meetings, including memos, supporting schedules, resolutions, and related materials, for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information presented for Board consideration.
• Researches and recommends products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and project work for the purpose of selecting solutions that meet District requirements and budget.
• Sets standards and best practices for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting workstations, peripherals, phones, audio/video, and classroom technology for the purpose of delivering reliable instructional and administrative technology.
• Supports after-hours and emergency response as required for the purpose of keeping critical District systems
• Supports the District website platform and mass-notification systems, including access rights, integrations, and operational availability, for the purpose of keeping those tools secure, functional, and usable by the staff responsible for content and parent communications.
• Works collaboratively with labor unions and employee groups for the purpose of preserving positive labor relationships, addressing operational concerns, and supporting efficient departmental operations.
