About the Role

As a Business Associate , you'll be an integral member of our Business Lending Support team, helping drive the success of Harborstone's business lending portfolio. You'll provide operational, administrative, and compliance support throughout the loan process while working closely with Loan Officers, borrowers, and vendors to ensure an exceptional member experience.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and building strong relationships.

What You'll Do

Support Business Loan Operations

• Create and maintain business relationships within our Loan Origination System (LOS).
• Ensure accurate onboarding and maintenance of borrower, guarantor, affiliate, collateral, and loan records.
• Help facilitate efficient loan origination and processing activities.

Coordinate Documentation & Due Diligence

• Collect and track borrower documentation, including applications, financial statements, and supporting reports.
• Coordinate vendor services and order required reports such as:
  • Preliminary title reports
  • Flood certifications
  • UCC searches
  • Environmental due diligence reports
• Ensure documentation is received accurately and within required timelines.

Ensure Compliance & Accuracy

• Gather and review entity organizational documents.
• Verify ownership structures and signing authorities.
• Maintain accurate records to support lending compliance requirements and credit file integrity.

Deliver Exceptional Member Support

• Serve as a secondary point of contact for business members and borrowers.
• Assist with routine servicing requests and issue resolution.
• Support Loan Officers in facilitating smooth and timely loan closings.

Additional Opportunities to Make an Impact

• Monitor exception reports, past-due loans, and upcoming maturities.
• Create and maintain credit files.
• Review loan documents for accuracy and compliance with approved terms.
• Prepare adverse action and covenant non-compliance notifications.
• Assist with construction loan administration and project monitoring as needed.
• Collaborate across departments to continuously improve the member experience.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a financial institution .
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent customer service, organizational, and time management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
• A positive, proactive, and member-focused mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial or business lending.
• Familiarity with business entity documentation and customer due diligence requirements.
• Experience with Sageworks Loan Origination System.
• Experience with AffinityEdge core banking software.
