COBOL Developer for AI Training

Apply your COBOL expertise to analyze legacy mainframe code and produce high-quality inputs that train next-generation AI systems. This remote contractor role supports a high-impact project at micro1, an AI data lab that turns real-world domain knowledge into training data and evaluations for frontier models. No prior AI experience is required, your COBOL and mainframe domain knowledge is the critical contribution.

• Analyze and interpret existing COBOL codebases to extract logic, workflows, and business rules for AI training data.
• Document COBOL program logic and business processes clearly and accurately, producing materials suitable for machine learning ingestion.
• Evaluate sample code and project scenarios, identify edge cases and ambiguities, and provide expert feedback.
• Review and annotate COBOL scripts or pseudocode to support development of robust ML datasets.
• Contribute to the design of test cases and real-world scenario outlines that represent typical COBOL applications.
• Collaborate with project coordinators and other technical contributors through clear written and verbal communication.
• Ensure technical accuracy and completeness in all deliverables to improve AI learning outcomes.
