On Call Archaeological/Cultural Resource Technician

Job Summary On Call Archaeological/Cultural Resource Technicians are sought for varying experience levels to join Langan's collaborative team in the Northeast. These technicians support environmental and cultural resource project managers with field and desktop tasks, working alongside professionals in cultural resource, biology, site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architecture. Job Responsibilities Conduct cultural resource pedestrian surveys. Perform background research at historical societies, museums, archives, and repositories. Record and document cultural resource findings. Test for subsurface absence/presence of cultural resources. Recover excavation data. Monitor construction to ensure compliance with agency mitigation measures and respond to cultural resources as required. Search records at CHRIS information centers. Analyze, catalog, and organize cultural resource artifacts in the laboratory. Prepare technical report sections. Maintain accurate work logs promptly. Assemble and maintain field equipment; inspect and troubleshoot as needed. Perform other duties as requested. Qualifications Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or related field; high school diploma may be considered for certain tasks based on experience. Practical knowledge of NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and related state/local regulations preferred. Hazwoper certification with annual physical, respirator fit test, and Hazwoper 8‑hr recertification preferred. 3+ years of related experience preferred. Familiarity with GIS and AutoCAD preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe, Nuance, Word, and SharePoint preferred. Strong attention to detail, ability to take direction, and multi‑task effectively. Excellent analytical, judgment, written, and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license in good standing. Willingness to travel to job sites and spend most of the workday on‑site. Ability to perform physical labor, including inclement weather, rugged terrain, and lifting equipment up to 40 pounds.
