This role involves providing care to children with chronic complex conditions in a step-down unit, with a focus on patients aged 2 months to 18 years. The position requires working days from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, with a schedule of 36 hours per week, including every other weekend. Prior travel experience is preferred, and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience with respiratory or vented patients is strongly preferred. Job Details Location: New Britain, Connecticut Shift Time: Days, from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm Shift Hours: 12 hours Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours Start Date: 07/27/2026 Required Qualifications: RN license, 2+ years of RN experience, experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred, prior travel experience preferred, proficient in managing IVs, G tube/JT/NGT, trachs/vents, infusions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with pediatric chronic complex care, step-down unit experience, familiarity with respiratory care procedures. Additional Information: While the patient ratio is higher (1:5‑7), this is not an ICU setting. Children are cared for in a step-down unit with long‑term occupancy lasting 2‑3 years. Care includes managing trachs, vents (handled primarily by respiratory therapists), G tubes, and other infusion therapies. Nurses will be responsible for suctioning and maintaining patient comfort but will not handle vent settings or weaning. Travel: No travel required. Float rotation may be required.
