Job Summary

Clinical Nurse, Medical Surgical Oncology Floor. The Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process for a diverse medical-surgical population, including patients receiving oncology-related care, recovering from surgery, managing complex symptoms, or requiring palliative support. The role emphasizes comprehensive assessment, care coordination, patient and family education, discharge planning, safety, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a compact state by the date of clinical care; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in an acute-care or inpatient healthcare setting.
• Schedule: Night shift from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend and rotating holidays required.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: Provides care for medical-surgical and oncology patients, including post-surgical patients, individuals requiring symptom management, and patients receiving end-of-life or palliative care. The role includes administering medications and treatments, assessing patient needs, documenting care and outcomes, coordinating discharge planning, applying infection-control practices, supporting patient and family advocacy, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The typical patient ratio is 5:1, with a maximum ratio of 6:1. Oncology patients may be assigned to the unit, but chemotherapy administration is generally not part of the role.
