Stage Manager

$1,600 - $2,000 per month

Park City Opera is currently looking for a Stage Manager to join our production team for The Magic Flute(January 2027). Job Title: Stage Manager Job Summary: The Stage Manager plays a pivotal role in the smooth operation of rehearsals and performances, ensuring that the artistic vision is realized through efficient coordination and support. This position requires excellent organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the cast and crew. The Stage Manager will be responsible for facilitating all rehearsal logistics, maintaining a professional environment, and acting as the primary liaison between the cast, creative team, and production staff. Timeline: January 8th - February 2nd, 2027 Total Stipend: $1,600-$2,000 depending on experience Key Responsibilities Blocking Documentation: Accurately record blocking notes and create sketches to track movements and positions for the cast and orchestra, ensuring clarity and consistency for all production needs. Rehearsal Setup: Prepare the rehearsal space by setting up props, set pieces, music stands, and chairs for orchestra rehearsals as required. Maintain a well-organized environment to optimize rehearsal efficiency. Arrive at least 30 minutes before each rehearsal to ensure the space is ready, and stay after to reset the room for subsequent use. Break Management: Monitor rehearsal breaks to maintain planned schedule Security Coordination: Act as the point of contact with security personnel at the rehearsal venue to ensure safety and address any access or security-related needs. Out of Rehearsal Attendance and Punctuality: Track attendance and punctuality for singers, proactively addressing and reporting any issues related to attendance or tardiness. Daily Scheduling: Distribute a detailed daily schedule to the cast, keeping them informed of call times, locations, and any last-minute changes. Rehearsal Reports: Document and distribute a comprehensive rehearsal report following each session, highlighting progress, notes, and any issues to the Director, Conductor, and Rehearsal Pianist. During Performances Calling and coordinating: Work together with production team to ensure that all technical elements of the production run smoothly during performances. Qualifications Ability to read music Strong organizational and time-management skills Exceptional attention to detail, especially in tracking complex staging requirements Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage and resolve conflicts calmly and effectively Familiarity with rehearsal room etiquette and production protocols Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by the rehearsal and performance schedule Must have a car Preferred Skills Knowledge and passion for opera and/or classical music This position is essential in creating a productive, well-organized rehearsal environment and ensuring the cast and crew can focus on delivering a polished, professional production. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, dedicated to supporting the artistic team and performers at every step. Desired Start Date: January 8, 2027
