Travel OR RN - 12-Week Assignment Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room RN for a 12‑week travel assignment in Boone, Iowa. Location Facility in Boone, Iowa Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications OR Nursing Certification (CNOR) Other certifications and licenses may be required Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care. Essential Work Functions Prepare the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional. Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety. Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly. Monitor the patient’s condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon. Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal. Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport to ensure accurate diagnostic results. Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly. Participate in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases. Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards. Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. Read, write, and communicate in English. Read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend. Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel, present a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/motor skills: grasp, fine manipulation, push/pull, and move during procedures and equipment use. Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with general public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under occasional close supervision or independently, contend with irregular activity schedules, maintain continuous concentration to detail.
