Assistant Director of Admissions - Twin Cities - MSUAASF Range C

Position Purpose This position has the primary responsibility to recruit and counsel prospective students for St. Cloud State University in a professional manner across a variety of audiences. The successful applicant will participate in education fairs and recruitment events on and off campus, conduct formal presentations, and conduct group meetings. In addition, this position will serve as a liaison for prospective student scholarships, athletics, and group visits. Responsibilities Recruit and counsel prospective students on admissions policies and procedures on campus and at community locations such as high schools and college fairs. Define students’ needs and wants, explain and interpret St. Cloud State programs, policies, and enrollment options, and encourage applications and registrations. Carry out recruitment activities during early mornings, regular workdays, evenings, weekends, and individually, electronically, by telephone, and in groups. Problem‑solve complex admissions cases, waive transcripts, and make conditional admissions decisions when authorized. Provide intake services to newly admitted students and those in the admissions process, including readmission cases. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the university’s mission, academic programs, and procedures for all students. Collaborate with other departments to assist prospective and admitted students, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of admission status. Maintain strong relationships with student services offices and best practices. Assess recruitment activities and outreach events using metrics such as yield rates and return on investment. Develop annual recruitment plans for assigned territory and coordinate off‑campus recruitment events. Track territory student results, including yield rates and external influences. Communicate changes in programs, policies, and procedures back to the admissions executive director when appropriate. Serve as liaison for prospective student scholarships and athletics, including distributing academic scholarships and coordinating with the athletic department. Participate as admissions representative on institution‑wide committees and teams. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree plus one year of professional experience, or bachelor’s degree plus two years of professional experience, or equivalent combination of post‑secondary training, education, and professional experience. Experience in college admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, or related fields, working with post‑traditional students in an urban environment with diverse populations. Excellent speaking, writing, and organizational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Twin Cities and St. Cloud territories. Preferred Qualifications Three years of professional experience in college admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, or related fields with post‑traditional students in an urban environment. Experience cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships. Experience analyzing data and using results to inform strategy. Experience working with athletic programs. Ability to work effectively in a diverse, dynamic, multi‑campus organization. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Other Requirements Physical effort: lift and carry program materials up to 30lbs. Eligibility to work in the United States on or before appointment (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or foreign national authorized to work without employer sponsorship). Work Schedule 40‑hour week in an office setting. Primary work site: Twin Cities (Metro) and St. Cloud main campus. Travel to other sites, occasional evening and weekend work, and occasional overnight travel expected.
