Job Overview Full time, 40 hours/week (Flexibility to cover various shifts required: 6A-2:30P, 2:30P-11P, 10P-6A, or 10:30P-6A. Weekends and holidays required). Primary Responsibilities Establish or assist connections between patients, physicians, security, hospital personnel, or the general public to the department/extension requested. Manage the Medical Practice Answering service and assist with all emergency codes timely, ensuring proper personnel respond. Answer and route internal and external calls; provide telephone assistance to all customers; document and report telephone malfunctions. Notify physicians and staff for routine operations; provide notifications for medical alerts (e.g., emergencies, code blue, etc.) and signal “all clear” when appropriate. Process all incoming calls for the answering service as directed by physician standing orders; maintain accurate messages and confidentiality. Update daily on-call schedule; provide information for visiting hours, patients, conditions, and room numbers when information desk is not staffed. Assist Lead Operators in onboarding new employees. Present for scheduled shifts, required meetings, and training opportunities. Qualifications High school graduate or GED within 6 months of hire. Six months experience in telecommunications, telephone customer service, healthcare environment, or answering service is preferred. Computer literate. Ability to handle multiple tasks, be flexible and adaptable. Professional interaction with other departments, medical staff, or the general public. Courtesy and respect toward all callers. Articulate; strong written communication skills; pleasant friendly voice; professional appearance. Ability to work with little or no supervision during weekend and night hours.
