Overview Newcastle Middle School is seeking an energetic, positive, and dedicated Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire middle school students to explore history, geography, and civics, helping them develop critical thinking skills and a foundational understanding of the world around them in a supportive learning environment.

Primary Responsibilities Instruction: Design and implement engaging, standards-based social studies lessons (e.g., World Geography, Eastern/Western Hemisphere, or Early American History) tailored to middle school learning levels.

Critical Thinking: Facilitate inquiry-based learning that helps students analyze primary and secondary sources, understand multiple perspectives, and build sound historical thinking skills.

Classroom Environment: Cultivate a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that encourages active student participation, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Assessment: Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, drive daily instruction, and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Studies department and grade-level teams to align curriculum and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

Communication: Maintain open and professional communication with parents, students, and administration regarding academic progress and classroom behavior expectations.

Minimum Qualifications Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Middle Level Social Studies (Grades 5–8) or Secondary Social Studies.

Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Strong classroom management techniques tailored to the unique developmental needs of middle school students.

Preferred Qualifications Prior experience teaching social studies at the middle school level.

Proven ability to integrate modern educational technology and interactive tools into daily instruction to enhance student engagement.

Schedule Newcastle Public Schools operates on a 4-day instructional week (Monday–Thursday).
