Veterinary Technician Internal Medicine

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center is looking to expand its Internal Medicine service and is hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician to join its team!

Compensation:

$21 - 28/hr and the starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.

Being an Internal Medicine Technician:

VCA AVCC Internal Medicine service is equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings-no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. Our Internal Medicine service diagnoses and treats the many serious diseases that can affect our patients' internal body systems.

Our IM Technicians are knowledgeable in various disease processes, perform advanced diagnostic testing, provide excellent patient care, and treat patients with high quality medicine. The responsibilities of the Technicians and Veterinary Assistants are to provide support to the Internists and to be part of a collaborative environment to provide thorough patient care. Our Technicians are a vital reason we can help patients feel better and why pet parents feel a little more at ease because their family members are being cared for with great medicine and warm hearts.

Duties will include:

· Anesthesia and sedation monitoring.

· Collecting patient histories.

· Client communication and education.

· Performing and assisting physical exams.

· Advanced venipuncture, IVC placement, Jugular catheter placement, nasal cannula placement.

· Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.

· Assisting in diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy, feeding tube placement, and other advanced medical procedures and treatments.

· Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services.

Schedule: Full-time (four 10-hour weekdays), volunteer weekend on call, and optional holiday availability.

Qualifications:

• 1+ years of clinical experience

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE.

• Strong knowledge of anesthesia protocols and patient monitoring
