Explore Career Pathways for Laboratory Professionals Responsibilities The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) functions as a laboratory professional who assists other laboratory personnel in specimen collection, specimen receiving, specimen processing, laboratory testing, process improvement and quality initiatives. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills and strong customer service skills. Preferred Job Requirements: Certification from a nationally recognized agency as a phlebotomist upon hire.
