Cardiology Unit Coordinator: Patient Care Champion

Boston, MA • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center • Full-time • DayWhen you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.The Cardiology Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a patient-focused, compassionate Unit Coordinator who is passionate about delivering exceptional care and customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Our Cardiology Medicine unit, KM 9, is a collaborative 32-bed unit staffed by dedicated professionals committed to providing safe, high-quality, holistic care for patients with cardiac conditions. As part of this engaged team, you will contribute to a care environment that truly makes a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Located in BIDMC’s new inpatient facility, the unit features a state-of-the-art setting designed to enhance both patient and provider experiences, including access to a rooftop healing garden for patients, families, and caregivers.This position is scheduled for four days per week with every other weekend required. Weekend hours are 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., with weekday shifts consisting of a mix of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m..Job Description:What You’ll DoPatient Flow & CoordinationSupport smooth day-to-day unit operationsCoordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers with nursing and admitting teamsHelp ensure providers have the supplies and information they needCommunicate details for tests and proceduresAssist with registration processes as neededPatient & Visitor ExperienceRespond promptly to call lights following BIDMC standardsWelcome and guide patients, families, and visitorsProvide helpful, non-clinical informationDeliver outstanding service in every interactionSystems & OperationsUse key systems such as:Provider order entryBed trackingNurse call systemsEnsure accurate data entry and timely responsesAct as a resource for basic system troubleshootingEquipment & Unit SupportTroubleshoot printer, copier, and fax issuesHelp maintain equipment and ensure proper usage and chargingCoordinate special equipment needs (e.g., specialty beds)Maintain logs and support compliance-related activities (JCAHO)Patient Belongings ProgramManage patient valuables securelyTrack and investigate lost itemsMaintain logs and escalate unresolved issuesWhat You BringRequiredHigh School diploma or GED0–1 year of related experienceCustomer service experienceBasic computer skills with web-based applicationsPreferredAssociate’s degreeAdministrative experience in a healthcare settingKey Skills for SuccessDecision Making: Follows standard procedures with minimal supervisionProblem Solving: Handles routine issues and identifies improvement opportunitiesCommunication: Clear and professional written and verbal English skillsTeamwork: Collaborates effectively with team membersCustomer Service: Provides respectful, service-oriented support in all interactionsIndependence: Works effectively with general guidanceKnowledge: Applies standard practices across varied situationsPhysical RequirementsModerate physical activity:Up to 50 pounds occasionallyUp to 20 pounds frequentlyStanding and moving throughout most of the shiftWhy You’ll Love This RoleBe central to patient care operationsMake a meaningful impact on patient and team experiencesWork in a collaborative, supportive environmentPay Range:$20.50 – $27.59The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
