Piping Estimator

Own the numbers behind every pipe and fitting. Out of our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility, you'll report to the Chief Estimator and assist in creating plan and spec estimates, design-build estimates, and high-level budgets, joining 1,000+ employees who deliver precision on every project. Compensation $90-$135k The Role As a Piping Estimator at AMS, you're the precision behind every bid. Out of our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility, reporting to the Chief Estimator, you'll assist in creating plan and spec estimates, design-build estimates, and high-level budgets for industrial piping and mechanical systems. You’ll analyze drawings and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs for piping systems and mechanical equipment, and assemble accurate, well-organized estimates in a timely manner. From coordinating subcontractor and vendor quotations to formulating cost breakdowns for project managers’ pre-construction budgeting, your numbers set the foundation for how AMS wins and delivers. What You’ll Own Analyze drawings and specifications with high attention to detail. Understand contractual terms and conditions and issue intelligent and perceptive RFIs. Perform quantity takeoffs for piping systems and mechanical equipment for industrial piping and mechanical systems. Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates in a timely manner. Organize subcontractor and vendor quotations, ensuring quotes meet contract documents. Maintain relationships with subcontractors and clients. Prepare, coordinate, and evaluate subcontractor bid packages. Assemble material and labor costing information for the company historical database. Formulate cost breakdowns from estimates for project managers’ pre-construction budgeting. Attend pre-bid walk-throughs periodically. Work with other company estimators to assemble multi-trade proposals. What You Bring Computer estimating software experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Project. Strong math and analytical skills. Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, including piping plan, isometric, and detail drawings. Experience with HVAC takeoffs. Mix of field and office experience.
