Diagnostic Radiology Technologist

Position: Radiology Technician

Location: Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Tallahassee, FL


Schedule:
Will normally work, Monday through Friday (except for Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with thirty (30) minutes unpaid lunch period, (if applicable).


A session will equal one (1) hour.


Visits will normally consist of eight (8) sessions.



Description of Services:
All duties will be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Radiology. The contractor will adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Federal Bureau of Prisons Healthcare Services and the American Correctional Association Standards/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions, as well as Federal and State policies and regulations.


Shall be capable of performing all radiology procedures needed without any technical support. The current radiological equipment provided at the FCI are digital machines, analog at the FDC. Knowledge of digital equipment is required.



Additional Description of Services
• Computerization and printing of daily log;
• Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
• Printing of all folder and exam labels;
• Completing of all x-ray studies ordered by the medical staff.
• Preparing digital x-rays to transmit to the contracted radiologist for interpretation.
• Transport of x-rays to radiologist for interpretation.
• Transport all x-rays from radiologist after interpretation.
• Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
• Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on x-ray equipment as needed.
• Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for JCAHO and program review as needed.
• Assuring that all x-ray requests are completed properly; and
• Computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis.
• Assuring that all x-ray equipment is operational and aprons are checked for leaks and breaks according to policy. Maintain log.
• Receive badges exposure reports. Give the report to the Clinical Director or designee for review and signature. Ensure that high exposures are documented.
• Prepare forms for badges orders quarterly. Maintain log.



Education and Experience:
The Radiology Technician contractor is required to have at a minimum two years of experience working as a Radiology Technician and have completed an approved Florida licensed Radio-Technology training program. The contractor must also possess a current unrestricted state license to practice as a Radiology Technician, be registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and maintain CPR certification.
