Job Title: Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Specialty: Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Duration: 13 Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 3 x 12s, 1900 to 0730, Rotating Weekends Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Respiratory Care Practitioner license required Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required at time of hire or within 90 days - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required at time of hire or within 90 days - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required at time of hire or within 90 days Must-Have: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program Description: Located amongst the oak trees, serving northern communities since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, the team provides exceptional care in various medical and surgical services. Local amenities include weekly farmers markets, farm-to-fork dining, scenic landscapes for outdoor activities, and nearby beach access. Performs basic and critical respiratory care services. Ability to work well without supervision and maintain supervision over others. Provides respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients. Provides respiratory care for patients with respiratory disease as ordered by the physician. Follows department policies concerning all phases of respiratory therapy. Completes paperwork, electronic medical records, flow sheets, and charges for each patient. Essential Functions: Assesses and documents the appropriateness of prescribed therapy for patients receiving respiratory care services. Administers aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining charts. Draws arterial blood gases per policy and physician order. Provides care to ventilator patients. Assists in department record keeping and operation, as well as training and supervision of new employees. Documents care provided; maintains records of treatment; generates necessary documents for charges or record keeping. Assists in instructing nursing personnel in monitoring patients and equipment. Performs drainage procedures and provides additional patient care regarding cardio respiratory disease. Provides suggestions regarding patient treatment and pulmonary progress. Assists in cardio respiratory rehabilitation. Provides instruction to patients and families in the nature of cardio respiratory disease and its ramifications. Makes rounds to check all respiratory therapy equipment in use or on standby in patient areas. Ensures completion of the initial ventilator bundle orders upon initiation of mechanical ventilation. Ensures compliance of VAP bundle for all patients receiving mechanical ventilation. Identifies measurable and reasonable outcomes while using appropriate therapy interventions to resolve patient needs. Updates and communicates the diagnosis based on patients' changing condition and disease status. Assists with maintenance and processing of equipment and products used in respiratory therapy services. Serves as a knowledge resource to the physician and staff regarding the technical aspects of respiratory care. Assists in stocking and reordering equipment. Keeps the equipment clean and ready for its next use. Assists physicians with special procedures. Assists with quality control and competencies. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
