Overview PAWSitive Veterinary of New York is a full-service, small animal practice in Brooklyn that provides high-quality, comprehensive care including preventative medicine, wellness care, dentistry, in-house diagnostics, surgery, and more. Our team of doctors and technicians is devoted to caring for each pet as their own, with integrity and compassion in a friendly atmosphere. Our goal is to keep pets healthy and happy through preventative medicine, and to partner with other clinics to provide after-hours or critical care through a wide referral network. Our hours of operation are: Monday - Friday: 9am - 6pm Saturday: 9am - 3pm Sunday: Closed Job Description Job duties include, but are not limited to: Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, and anesthetic management. Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability. Administration of medications and effective communication of treatment plans with clients. Surgical preparation and assistance, and support of anesthesia. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises and may be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases. Qualifications A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license is required; 2+ years of professional experience preferred. Previous professional experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring is heavily preferred; strong focus on assisting with surgeries. The right candidate will be comfortable with all aspects of surgical procedures. Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts. Availability to work Saturdays. Excellent client communication and medical record management skills. Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations. Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques. Proficiency in sample collection methods including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens. Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture; dental radiography is a plus. Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $35 - $40/hr, depending on level of experience.
