Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometric Technician/Eyewear Consultant role based in Pensacola, FL. The person in this role will greet patients, assist with check-in, collect medical histories, and support pre-testing procedures such as visual acuity, refraction, and basic diagnostic testing under doctor direction. They will help schedule and confirm appointments, verify insurance information, and maintain accurate patient records in the medical office system. Daily responsibilities also include guiding patients in selecting frames and lenses, explaining product options and benefits, and ensuring proper fit and adjustments for eyewear. The role involves maintaining a clean and organized optical area, managing frame inventory, and collaborating closely with doctors and team members to support an efficient, friendly patient experience. Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered mindset, with the ability to build rapport with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Effective communication skills, including clear verbal communication, active listening, and the ability to explain clinical and product information in easy-to-understand terms. Experience or strong interest in optometry or eye care support, such as performing basic pre-tests, assisting with exams, or working in an optical environment. Familiarity with medical office processes, including appointment scheduling, patient intake, and basic electronic health record or practice management systems. Attention to detail and manual dexterity for eyewear measurements, adjustments, and lens verification. Ability to stand, move, and assist patients throughout the day, and to work a consistent full-time schedule on-site. Previous experience in an optometric, ophthalmic, or optical retail setting is preferred but not required; customer service or healthcare front-desk experience is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in optometric assisting or optical dispensing is beneficial.
