This position supports the operation and upkeep of the wastewater treatment plant at SCI Mercer and may assist in other facility areas as needed. The role ensures that equipment, systems, and processes function properly through routine work, testing, and crew oversight. As a Corrections Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman, you will perform the following duties: Plant Performance: Maintain treatment plant operations under normal and emergency conditions, and manage control systems Equipment Maintenance: Operate, service, and repair pumps, motors, compressors, filters, and related equipment Water Testing: Conduct chemical tests, track results, and maintain logs and supply inventories Documentation Work: Complete paperwork, review concerns, request materials, and manage plant housekeeping tasks Crew Oversight: Direct inmate workers, monitor movement, and ensure security procedures are followed Safety Compliance: Conduct searches, maintain tool tracking, and follow regulations for hazardous materials Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Your pass days will be determined during the hiring process. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. Special Requirements You must be in possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C, Subclass 8, 9, and 11. You must be in possession of a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators. You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent. Additional Requirements Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
