Health Center Activity AssistantNorth Oaks Communities LLC is seeking a Health Center Activity Assistant who want to make a difference in the lives of seniors every day. Hospitality is at the heart of what we do.The Health Center Community Life Services Assistant is responsible for assisting with the overall planning and implementation of a varied activity program designed to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Health Center residents.Shift and Schedule: part-time every other Saturday and Sunday 9am-5:30pm and three evenings a week 5:30pm-8:30pm. May includes rotating holidays.Essential DutiesAssists with planning, coordinating activities: reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and on-to-one visits, as indicated.Assists with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar and newsletter.Assists with purchasing supplies for activities as needed.Distributes mail daily to residents.Performs and directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.Announces scheduled activities at least fifteen minutes prior to the activity.Directs volunteer activities, enlists their support and coordinates their efforts, provides training and supervision of volunteers.Maintains accurate documentation of resident's activity attendance.Plans and coordinates activities in the absence of the CLS Coordinator.Assists with resident assessments when directed by CLS Coordinator.Assists with staff training when directed by CLS Coordinator or Administrator.Other DutiesAttends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.Observes all safety rules and regulations.HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.Qualifications: High school diploma required. One year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred. Background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred. Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirements.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting for approximately 60% of work day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs. in gerichairs and/or wheelchairs. Must be able to read and speak English, hear, and be able to sit and walk intermittently throughout the day.
